Jan Dempsey Community Art Center plaque ceremony set for March 27

March 18 2024

AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn community is invited to commemorate recent renovations and an addition to the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center at a plaque ceremony on Wednesday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the arts center, located at 222 E. Drake Ave.

The renovation and addition were completed at the end of February 2024. The 8,000-square-foot expansion included a new dance studio and ceramics studio along with additional classroom and gallery space. Portions of the existing building — including the dressing room, storage area and office — were reconfigured to maximize space. Additional improvements included renovating the restrooms, doorways, kitchen, dressing room and main entrance and making repairs to the roof. A new sidewalk was constructed along the front of the facility, and parking was added along Drake Avenue.

The expansion project is one of many projects to come out of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Master Plan. To learn more about the expansion project, visit auburnalabama.org/cip.
